Since the conversation is all Rye-Harrison this week, it’s time for this annual post to go up on the blog. It’s by far the best rivalry in the area. Don’t even argue. In my opinion, and I have a watch that says I’ve been covering sports in this neck of the woods for the last 25 years, it’s Rye-Harrison football, Mount Vernon-New Rochelle basketball and Yorktown-Lakeland/Panas lacrosse in that order.
All of them are worth the price of admission.
The new schedule has this game in Week 2, but it really doesn’t sound like the early date is dimming the enthusiasm.
“It’s not the next game,” Garnets coach Dino Garr said. “It’s Rye-Harrison. It’s the game.”
And yes, both teams are in the process of correcting mistakes that are inevitable at this point in September.
The teams will play for the 84rd time on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rye. Josh is coming back for this game, and he will be on the sideline. In the mean time, talk amongst yourselves
