Rye rebuilding? After a run of dominance in Class B that included three state titles, Rye has gone 1-2 in the postseason in two years in Class A. Despite a pair of playoff berths the last two years, a tough schedule and significant losses to graduation have coach Dino Garr believing this is a rebuilding year.

"I don't think too many people are expecting us to be very good this year," Garr said. "But if we can win and be a part of the playoffs, I think it'll be a surprise."

Garr said the baton has been passed at quarterback from three-year starter Connor Eck to Jake Meyerson, who filled in late last season when Eck was injured.

"Jake's the new leader and this is his team now," Garr said.
