Rye 49, Roosevelt 26: Rye’s back. This game proved it. The Rye team that lost to Eastchester three weeks ago is no longer. The one with the versatile offense and disciplined defense is back and ready for another run through the postseason. I had two people who were at the game tell me Rye was as good as ever. The Garnets disguised defenses at the line, got pressure on Donovan Walker and contained the Roosevelt running game. Walker, a special talent, broke some big plays, as expected. But the Garnets made so many more of their own. Cole McCormack had a breakout game, rushing for 178 yards and three TDs, and Connor Eck was 9-for-10 for 162 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Let the rest of Class A be on notice.
