A season to remember
Rye 20, Pleasantville 7: The closest game of the regular season was Rye's first. Sophomore quarterback Connor Eck completes 9 of 15 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns in his debut. Kyle Ramalho adds 124 yards and a touchdown for the defending state champs.
Rye 35, Nanuet 12: The Garnets get a balanced offensive effort and hold Nanuet to 93 total yards. Eck throws for 92 yards and runs for two touchdowns, and Ramalho gains 89 yards and scores twice.
Rye 42, Pelham 10: Ramalho runs for two touchdowns, and T.J. Storino rushes for a season-high 95 yards and a score. Malcolm Walker records two sacks.
Rye 28, Harrison 3: Rye knocks off its archrival for the sixth straight time as Cole McCormack enjoys a breakout performance. The junior rushes for 140 yards and a touchdown. Eck runs for a touchdown and connects with Donald Keough and Matt Foristel through the air for scores.
Rye 44, Irvington 13: Storino and McCormack each rush for over 100 yards score two touchdowns. Brendan Nagle runs for a touchdown, and has a sack and a safety.
Rye 21, Byram Hills 7: Eck picks apart the Bobcats' defense, completing 7 of 8 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Keough catches four passes for 70 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown to put the game away.
Rye 35, Ardsley 6: Eck throws for 127 yards and runs for a touchdown. Ramalho gains 99 yards and scores twice, and Keough has 67 yards receiving and returns an interception for a touchdown.
Oct. 24 Section 1 Class B quarterfinal
Rye 48, Kennedy 14: Six different Rye players score touchdowns. Ramalho and McCormack each has a rushing touchdown and Brogan Matthews catches one. Nagle has a touchdown on an interception return, Jack O'Callaghan scores on a punt return, and John Santoro has a TD on a kickoff return.
Nov. 1 Section 1 Class B semifinal
Rye 40, Nanuet 13: Eck throws for a career-high 248 yards and three touchdowns. Ramalho and Storino each scores two touchdowns, and the defense records four sacks.
Nov. 7 Section 1 Class B final
Rye 35, Pleasantville 7: William Ramsey records two of Rye's five sacks as the defense holds the Panthers to 42 yards on the ground on 30 carries. Ramalho has three touchdowns to earn MVP honors for the second year in a row.
Nov. 14 State quarterfinal
Rye 35, Highland 6: Ramalho rushes for 115 yards and three touchdowns. The Garnets gain 310 yards rushing and hold the Section 9 champs to 67 total yards.
Nov. 22 State semifinal
Rye 34, Hudson Falls 7: The high-scoring Section 2 champs were grounded by a Garnets defense that was nearly flawless. McCormack gains 164 yards and two touchdowns, and Hudson Falls manages only a late touchdown after averaging 33 points per game.
Yesterday State final
Rye 16, Oneida 12: After falling behind 6-0 in the opening minutes, Rye scored 16 unanswered points to end the half leading 16-6. Oneida pulled within four with 2:09 remaining but could not recover the subsequent onside kick and the Garnets were able to run out the clock. Rye becomes the third Section 1 team to win three state football titles, joining Edgemont and Dobbs Ferry.
