More thoughts on the Victory over Sleepy Hollow

Posted Monday, November 05, 2007 by Dino Garr
Kevin Devaney concludes his blog entry of a narrative of the Sleepy Game as follows:

The game convinced me that Rye isn't going to let this dynasty go down very easily. Sleepy Hollow was the best Section 1 team the Garnets have faced since 2001. The only thing that stopped Sleepy Hollow was that it went up against the best TEAM in Section 1.

Rarely do you see a unit with nearly as much chemistry as Rye. Here's a team that lost its heart and soul, guard/linebacker Sam Fulmer, and still found a way to beat one of the most talented team's in the section. You can look through this defense and make a case that any one of them saved the game - Rob or Francis Santangelo, Matt Rix, Aaron Walker, Kevin Gordon, Keough, Dunn, Ramsey, O'Callaghan, Bonsall, whoever.

There have been far more talented teams at Rye over the last five years. But I don't know if any of them have played this well together. It's a special group.
