From The Old Garnet:
Not for nothing, but why do the scheduling wizards always have the Garnets open on the road?
This year it’s off to Armonk and the BYRAM HILLS BOBCATS. It’s the 8th cat fight in a football relationship that started with two games in the ‘80s, expanded by three played in the ‘90s and another three so far in the aughts.
But it is the Garnet & Black who have dominated by a 7-1-0 (.875) margin and not the Navy and Red. Garnets be wary of felus-rufus, a member of the lynx genus characterized by a black-tipped, short tail (the “bob” in Bobcat); long legs and large paws. With their last clawing of the Garnets occurring in 1987, these mini-mountain lions plan to mark the Garnets in Game 1.
BANISH THE BOBCATS ! BANISH THE BOBCATS !
Also from The Journal New's Kevin Devaney:
"Rye 28, Byram Hills 7: Look for this one to be close for a while before the Garnets break away."
